Strategy Vision and Aims

Vision

South Ribble will be a borough that is resilient, healthy and environmentally responsible, where the Council, communities and businesses work together to reduce emissions, protect biodiversity, and prepare for the impacts of climate change.

Aims

Focusing on the Council’s commitment to carbon neutrality and its work to reduce emissions through decarbonisation, renewable energy use, improved data capture, and sector wide reductions in transport, domestic energy use and industry emissions.
  2. To increase resilience and preparedness for the current and future impacts of climate change. Focusing on taking action to address increasing temperatures, changing rainfall patterns and rising sea levels, as well as strengthening community resilience, improving infrastructure, and embedding adaptation across local planning and service delivery.
  3. To enable and empower residents, businesses and partners to participate fully in climate action. Focusing on effective communication, tackling misinformation, promoting the co-benefits of climate action, and fostering behaviour change through education, engagement and collaboration.
