Dingle all the way!

Light Up Leyland 2023

20 October 2023

South Ribble Borough Council have revealed who will be lighting up Leyland at this year's Lights Switch On event.

The event, taking place on Saturday 25 November, hosted in partnership with Leyland Town Team, will welcome Emmerdale favourite Jeff Hordley (who plays Cain Dingle in the soap), along with winner of The X Factor, Ben Haenow, to turn on the lights.

The day will start at 12 noon on Hough Lane, with the main event taking place at 5.30pm.
There will be lots to enjoy during the day including children's attractions, market stalls, street food, live music and entertainment from 3pm, including appearances from the Grinch. There'll also be a range of children's activities happening in Leyland Market.

Councillor Paul Foster, Leader of South Ribble Borough Council, said: 'We're really looking forward to the Christmas Lights Switch On event to officially start the festivities, with some outstanding celebrities and fabulous entertainment.

"The event gets bigger and better every year and is enjoyed by thousands which also supports local businesses and stallholders at the event, giving a boost to the local economy, so come along, have a great time and show your support."

"The event is a real joint effort, so thank you to all of our partners in Leyland for coming together to make this special event happen.

Free parking will be available on the day on all town centre car parks: Churchill Way carpark, King Street car park, Sumner Street carpark and Ecroyd Street carpark.

The event is sponsored by Royal Flush Vapes.

Visitors to the Leyland Lights Switch On will also be able to purchase their tickets for next year's Music in the Park event being held on Sunday 26 May 2024.

The local, Leyland Cross Christmas Light Switch on will take place the night before on Friday 24 November from 5.30pm to 7.30pm with free refreshments and mince pies available in St Andrews Church.
