Street trading means the selling, exposing or offering for sale any article, including a living thing, in a street.
A "street" is defined very broadly and includes roads, pavement and any area to which the public has access without payment. This includes public and private land. If you want to carry out street trading within Chorley, you must have street trading consent issued by us.
There are some specific exemptions under the Act and so you are advised to seek your own, independent legal advice before attempting to trade.
Apply for street trading consent

Acceptable locations
We have adopted a system of street trading which has designated "prohibited street" and "consent streets". Prohibited streets will not be granted a street trading consent. Any area which is not a prohibited street is a consent street.
The list of prohibited streets can be found on our street trading policy.
Conditions attached to consent
If granted a street trading consent, you will have standard conditions attached to it. Our standard conditions can be found on our street trading policy. If you breach these conditions whilst trading, we may revoke the consent. Any person who carries out street trading without a consent commits an offence and may be fined £1,000.
