Green box (paper and cardboard)
The green box is for your paper and cardboard recycling.

Things that should go in your green box:
Paper:
- newspapers and supplements
- magazines, brochures and catalogues.
- white paper (e.g. computer paper, letters)
- telephone directories
- leaflets and flyers
- envelopes - you can include those that have a window
- gift wrap
- brown paper
- shredded paper
All card from around the home, including:
- cardboard boxes (e.g. cereal boxes, dishwasher table boxes)
- corrugated cardboard (e.g. online delivery boxes, cardboard envelopes) - remove all plastic inserts and polystyrene, as well as packing tape
- greetings cards without glitter - tear off the glitter section, as well as any badges and batteries
Please remember:
- remove any plastic wrapping and free gifts from newspapers, magazines and flyers and put in the general rubbish
- food residue should be removed from paper before being recycling
- ensure that boxes are empty of food stuffs (e.g. cheese, pizza) and other contaminants including polystyrene
- Tip: if you scrunch paper and it doesn't spring back, then it can be recycled.
Things that cannot go in your green box:
- glass, cans, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays - these should go in your blue bin
- plastic carrier bags
- plastic film, wrappings, bubble wrap
- polystyrene packaging
- food
- garden waste
- books
- wallpaper and decoration paper
- hygiene/sanitary products - nappies, wipes, sanitary towels etc
- paper towels and tissues
- cotton wool and make up pads
- non-paper gift wrap (e.g. foil-based gift wrapping) or bags
- crisp or sweet packets/wrappers
