The Leyland couple, Mr and Mrs Doyle, are set to move into one of the 75 apartments available at Jubilee Gardens, the first of its kind developed and managed by the council.
The couple have lived and worked in South Ribble most of their lives and are homeowners in Leyland. They are delighted to be moving into Jubilee Gardens and know it will enrich their lives as they join a community.
Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, Leader of South Ribble Borough Council said, “I am so pleased to have joined Mr and Mrs Doyle at Jubilee Gardens to welcome them to their new home.
“We wanted this complex to allow for people to live independently for longer locally and it’s great that the couple can access this brilliant facility in an area they already call home.”
Jubilee Gardens comprises 75 apartments for over 55s with extra care needs. Extra care housing is designed to support older people who may need help with daily living or personal care, while still enabling them to live independently.
It offers a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment with access to on-site care and communal facilities, giving residents the freedom to enjoy their own space, with the reassurance that help is available when they need it.
The development features beautiful, landscaped gardens and communal areas along with commercial spaces for a community café and salon.
The complex provides modern living with extra care support, allowing for residents to live independently in their later years.
Mr Doyle has primary progressive multiple sclerosis which was diagnosed 2014 which requires him to have care and support which can be provided on site at Jubilee Gardens. He is also a member of Leyland and Chorley MS society.
Mrs Eileen Doyle said, “As we live locally, we have seen the development grow and used to go past to see where it is up to. We’re delighted with the apartment and think Jubilee Gardens will give us a new lease of life.
“We are looking forward to joining in with activities and meeting new friends. I enjoy crafts such as knitting and sewing and my husband loves football, and we’ll now be able to enjoy our hobbies in an independent yet safe environment.”
Allocation of the apartments is a phased programme, working alongside the care provider to ensure individual care needs are being met. So far nearly 20% of apartments have been allocated.
