Lancashire tourism Awards Finalist - Large event award

South Ribble Live, the vibrant music festival that rocks Penwortham and Longton, has been shortlisted for a Lancashire Tourism Award.

The event, delivered in partnership between South Ribble Borough Council and The Creative Network, has been announced as a finalist in the Large Event Award category, demonstrating the event’s incredible success in bringing an economic boost to South Ribble businesses and local venues.

Taking place over two weekends in May and June, the 2026 event showcased more than 30 venues and over 250 live performances, shining a spotlight on incredible local talent and South Ribble’s thriving creative community, creating a truly memorable, experience for visitors.

Councillor Matthew Farnworth, South Ribble Borough Council's Cabinet member for Parks, Events and Culture, said "We are thrilled that South Ribble Live has been shortlisted for a Lancashire Tourism Award. The event brings together communities, showcases outstanding local musicians and encourages visitors to support the borough’s fantastic venues, keeping our night-time economy thriving.

“Being shortlisted is a wonderful recognition of everyone involved in making South Ribble Live such a success, and we are delighted to see the event celebrated among the best events in Lancashire.”

Nigel Stewart, the Chair of the Creative Network, remarked that, "The Creative Network has, for over 15 years, promoted the value of the Creative Arts to the community, to the businesses, and to the creative people in our area.  We are grateful to have been involved in this form of service, and to have been recognised in this way is a statement about and for the thousands of people who have put their 'shoulders to the wheel' to make these events happen."

This year’s South Ribble Live welcomed around 14,000 attendees, with Penwortham Live featuring a special DJ set by BBC Radio Lancashire’s Graham Liver, on an outdoor stage on Liverpool Road.

The tourism awards celebrate excellence across the region's tourism and hospitality sectors, and winners will be announced at an award ceremony in February 2027.
