Councillor Caleb Tomlinson was formally sworn in as Mayor of South Ribble for 2026/27 on 13 May 2026.

With nearly two decades of service on South Ribble Borough Council, Councillor Tomlinson was first elected 2009 and for the past seven years, he has chaired the Planning Committee, playing a key role in shaping development across the borough.

During his mayoral year, Councillor Tomlinson is looking forward to meeting community groups, residents, and organisations across South Ribble, representing the borough at civic events.

The Mayor’s chosen charities for the year are:

  • St Catherine’s Hospice
  • Regenerage
  • S.L.E.A.P
  • Tender Nursing Care
  • Crohn’s & Colitis Support Lancashire

Speaking on his appointment, the Mayor of South Ribble said “I’m incredibly proud to take on the role of Mayor of South Ribble and to support these charities throughout the year ahead. I’m keen to promote South Ribble as a great place to live, work, visit and enjoy, while celebrating the wide range of communities that make up our borough.”

“Supporting these organisations and raising awareness of the vital work they do for individuals and families is something I’m really looking forward to, and I’m excited to meet people across South Ribble as part of my mayoral year.”

Born in Preston in 1963 and educated at St Mary’s, Leyland, Councillor Tomlinson has strong roots in the borough. He is married to his childhood sweetheart and has lived and worked locally for most of his life.

Alongside his council responsibilities, he has worked as a Sales Estimator and Planner for the same company since 1998.

The Mayor’s consort is Mrs Linda Tomlinson and the Deputy Mayor elected for the 2026/27 year is Councillor Ian Watkinson.
