This weekend saw the Penwortham night-time economy thrive as South Ribble Borough Council brought Penwortham Live to town with event partners Creative Network.

The booming weekend saw over 5000 people flock to bars, restaurants and venues and enjoy live music from over 120 acts on both Friday and Saturday night.

Funded by the Governments UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), live music acts performed in 25 venues as the event expanded for the first time ever into Middleforth and Kingsfold. Free shuttle buses were also organised for the event which took attendees from the Liverpool Road area to Middleforth and Kingsfold.

Leader of South Ribble Borough Council, Councillor Paul Foster, said: "We are overwhelmed by the support we received at this year's first South Ribble Live event.

"I would like to thank all the attendees for joining us, the venues for taking part, all the performers and The Creative Network for working brilliantly with our council teams.

"Make sure you get our next event dates in your diary. We've got our flagship event Music in the Park coming up on 26 May featuring headline acts including Jason Donovan and Billy Ocean! Plus, we've got the next South Ribble Live event in Longton on 12 and 13 July which promises to be another weekend of great live music."

The Creative Network, who organised the schedule of acts, commented that: "It was absolutely fantastic to see the creative community come together as a huge team and put on such an amazing weekend.  It takes an army of us to pull off these events and we did it again. We will never forget seeing hundreds of people sat on straw bales outside the SPAR, absolutely partying like it was 1999!  And we really appreciated the enthusiasm of the businesses that took part, it brought so much to the local economy!  What a weekend!"

The council is now asking for your feedback, with a chance to win two wristbands to Longton Live on 12 and 13 July if you complete the survey! Complete it here: https://bit.ly/PenworthamLive2024Feedback
