The government has announced new funding to support people who are in financial crisis.

The Crisis and Resilience Fund is intended to help people cope with a sudden, unexpected expense or loss of income, and help build local financial resilience so future crises are less likely.

We are currently finalising what the scheme will look like, so keep an eye on our website and social media over the coming weeks.

The Crisis and Resilience Fund is funded by the UK Government.

Government support for homes reliant on oil for heating

The UK Government has announced support for households that use oil for heating, in response to the global rise in oil costs. This support will be delivered through the Crisis and Resilience Fund.

The Crisis and Resilience Fund is provided directly to the County Council by the UK Government, and we work closely with the County Council as they allocate funding to districts for local administration.

We’re working on a scheme to provide assistance for households relying on oil or LPG. However, we understand that some households may urgently need a top-up to keep their heating and hot water running.

If oil or LPG is your primary heating source and you’re struggling to replenish your supply, we may be able to help you.

The following conditions would apply:

  • you are resident in South Ribble
  • the property is your only property and your main residence
  • you are the main household resident responsible for buying oil / lpg to heat your property
  • your main heating source is oil / lpg
  • your household has a low income or the household does not have sufficient resources to resolve the immediate crisis without incurring unmanageable debt or going without essentials such as food
  • you are at immediate risk of being unable to heat your home or access hot water due to rising oil costs
  • the capacity reading on your oil / lpg tank is 30% or less

If you meet the above conditions please contact our Customer Services at 01772 625625 or email crf@southribble.gov.uk. A member of the team will then contact you.  We aim to make contact as soon as possible.
