At the 2025 Autumn Budget the Chancellor announced that the 2026 Supporting Small Business Relief (SSBR) scheme will cap bill increases at £800 per year or the relevant caps within transitional relief (whichever is the greatest) for any business who at the 2026 revaluation are seeing large increases in their bills as a result of losing some or all of their:
a. Small Business Rate Relief or Rural Rate Relief,
b. 40% Retail Hospitality and Leisure Relief, and/or
c. 2023 Supporting Small Business Relief.
Charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs, who are already entitled to mandatory 80% relief, are not eligible for 2026 Supporting Small Business Relief.
We will apply the relief to all eligible business rates accounts automatically. If you think you are eligible for this relief and it is not showing on your bill please let us know at info@southribble.gov.uk.
