Building regulations reversions

As well as local authority building control, there are also private sector building control providers called Registered Building Control Approvers (RBCA). The choice of who to use is the owners, not the contractor or the agent. We would advise that you ask your contractor, builder or agent how much the RBCA’s fees are prior to agreeing to use them as they can be more expensive. We are a non-profit provider.

Sometimes private sector providers can cease trading, lose their licences, or go into liquidation. In those cases, your RBCA will issue us with a cancelation notice and advise you to submit a reversion to us. This is where your building control work will come to us to take over from them. It is your responsibility to contact us.

Submit a reversion notification

To submit a reversion, please complete the reversion form and send to us via email to bldcontrol@southribble.gov.uk.

Once you have submitted a reversion form, you must then arrange for us to visit your property. We will assess what work will be needed, from a building control point of view, to bring your project to a close. This will depend on what stage of the build you are at and what information you can get from your RBCA such as site notes, approvals, photographs etc. The less amount of information we have may mean increased amounts of exposure work. This will also affect how much our fee will be. Again, as we are not for profit, we will only charge for the time taken.
