Temporary Event Notice Guidance

A Temporary Event Notice (TEN) costs £21.

Cheques should be made payable to South Ribble Borough Council, alternatively you can pay by debit or credit card by telephoning 01772 625625.

A TEN may be used to authorise licensable activities at an event lasting a maximum of 168 hours (7 days), where no more than 499 persons would be present on the site at any given time during the event (including staff and any performers).

A maximum of 12 TENs covering no more than 21 days may be given for the same premises in any calendar year.

A Personal Licence holder may give up to 50 TENs (including 5 Late TENs) in any calendar year.

A non-Personal Licence holder may give up to 5 TENs (including 2 Late TENs) in one calendar year.

A TEN must be given to the Licensing Authority and other bodies no later than 10 full working days before the event. The day the notice is given and the day of event are not included in this calculation.

A Late TEN must be given to the Licensing Authority and other bodies no later than 5 full working days before the event, not including the day of the event and no earlier than 9 full working days before the event.

Two copies of the TEN and the fee should be submitted to:

The Council's Licensing Unit will sign one copy of the TEN and return it to the notice giver.

The Police and Environmental Health have 3 working days to raise any objections to the notice. Where no objections are raised, the signed copy of the TEN forms the 'licence' for the event, and must be available at the premises throughout the event.

Any Police or Environmental Health representations that cannot be satisfactorily addressed, must be referred to a meeting of the Council's Licensing Sub-Committee for determination.
