The next scheduled elections in South Ribble will be the Lancashire County Council Elections and Police & Crime Commissioner Election on Thursday 6 May 2021.
Please note the Police & Crime Commissioner Election was due to be held on Thursday 7 May 2020 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic this was postponed to 2021.
A valid request for an election to fill the vacancy in the St Ambrose ward has been received. Under normal circumstances an election to fill the vacancy would be held within thirty-five days (computed in accordance with Section 243(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972).
However, a poll cannot currently take place until 6 May 2021 as prescribed by the Local Government and Police & Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums)(England and Wales) Regulations 2020 and the Coronavirus Act 2020.
