Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) can be distressing and frightening and covers a variety of activity which can cause harm to an individual and have an impact on their surroundings. ASB is defined as any behaviour which causes 'alarm, harassment or distress to 1 or more persons not of the same household' (Crime and Disorder Act 1998) Anti-Social Behaviour can also include concerns of public safety, public disorder or public nuisance.
Examples of Anti-social behaviour include:
- noise nuisance
- neighbour disputes
- threatening behaviour
- verbal abuse
- intimidation and harassment
- environmental damage
- begging and vagrancy
- vandalism and graffiti.
Report Anti-Social Behaviour
When reporting Anti-Social Behaviour, you will need to explain:
- what has happened
- who or what is causing the behaviour
- when it happened
- how often is it happening
- are any other services involved such as the Police or Registered Social Landlord.
In an emergency, you should report anti-social behaviour to Lancashire Police by telephone on 101 or 999.
